Iker Casillas’ Oporto
A true champion. IkerCasillas, currently representing FC Porto, has accumulated sports titles and international distinctions. He arrived in the city in 2015 and has already been captivated by its charms.
Casillas’s career was soon marked by achievements: in 1999, at the age of 18 and 115 days, he was the youngest goalkeeper ever in the main team of Real Madrid in which he played 725 matches. With the “Merengues” jersey, he added more titles: three Champions League, one Club World Cup, two Intercontinental Cups, two European Super League, five Spanish Leagues, two King Cups and four Spanish Super Cups.
In 1997, in the Spanish national team, he won the UEFA European Under-16 Championship and in 1999 he won the Under-20 World Championship (in both cases the titles were won by defenses in the penalty shoot-out). It would only be the beginning of a successful journey, which would also include the 2010 World Cup and two European Championships. The goalkeeper also shines in support of humanitarian causes. He created a foundation focused on the welfare of children and in 2011 was named the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations.
He has lived in Porto since 2015 with his wife, Sara Carbonero and their two children. He soon surrendered to the beauty of the city, sharing on social networks, with photographs and videos of his visits and the landscapes of Porto.
